Mass to celebrate canonization, priest anniversaries spark conversation on social
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
On Sept. 4, Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., will celebrate a special Mass of Thanksgiving to commemorate the canonization of Blessed Teresa of Kolkata in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a worship site of Mother of Mercy Parish, Asbury Park.
The Diocese shared the news of the Mass on its Facebook page and was met with an overwhelming response.
More than 680 people liked the Facebook post — the most ever for a single post to the Diocese of Trenton’s page. Seventy-one others shared it with their communities and more than a dozen commented, including the following (some have been edited for length and clarity):
Donna Heffern: Thank God – a true example of humility & selflessness
Jay DeLeo: I Love this saintly woman with a special care. God loved her and so do I.
As a supplement to its July 28 issue, the Monitor published the annual “Lives of Faith” issue that celebrates milestone anniversaries in ministry for the Diocese of Trenton’s priests, deacons and religious brothers and sisters. The publication shared features of those celebrating 25 and 50 years since their ordinations to the priesthood on its Facebook page and those stories received dozens of likes, comments and shares, including the following:
Molly Crome, on Father Brian J. McCormick, who celebrated his 50th anniversary to the priesthood: One of the finest men I have ever come across.
Marianne Linka, on Father John P. Bambrick, who celebrated his 25th anniversary as a priest: Great article about a fantastic priest! Glad to have journeyed with him!
Carole Gross, on Msgr. Ronald J. Bacovin, who marked 50 years as a priest: Msgr. Bacovin is a very special priest. Still like it when he visits St. James.
