Msgr. Vincent Gartland, a retired priest of the Diocese who serves as a weekend assistant in St. George Parish, will guide participants through a timeline of Holy Week beginning with the triumphal entry of Jesus on Palm Sunday to the Resurrection on Easter. The Scriptural overview will be followed by an outline of the liturgy of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil.

An opportunity for questions and comments will be included.

“Each year Catholics are strongly encouraged to participate in the events of Holy Week and the Sacred Triduum. This is the holiest week of our liturgical year,” said Msgr. Gartland. He noted that it is his hope that faithful will enter Holy Week with a deeper understanding and greater appreciation of the Church’s “high holy days and the liturgical rites that accompany them.”

“The more we know, the greater should be our understanding and participation,” he said.
