Join Bishop O'Connell for Tenebrae service March 23
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., invites the faithful of the Diocese of Trenton to prepare for Easter in a different and dramatic way this year.
The Bishop will lead a Tenebrae service for the Year of Mercy beginning at 7:30 p.m. March 23 in St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake.
Tenebrae is the Latin word for “darkness” or “shadows” and is a beautiful and ancient service that includes the reading and singing of the Psalms to mark the beginning of the Triduum. Musicians from the Westminster Conservatory of Music, Lawrenceville, and readers will be the main participants voicing the texts, allowing the congregation to act as prayerful witnesses.
