Holy Cross School hosts "Welcoming Night"

The Holy Cross School PTA gathered in the school’s gymatorium to host a “Welcoming Night” for all new families entering the Catholic grade school located in Rumson on Aug. 17. Welcoming committee co-chairs Claire Passarella and Lori Fozzolari organized the gathering. School principal Patricia Graham and PTA president Jessica Hickey greeted the parents and new students and introduced them to members of the PTA.

While at the gathering, families were encouraged to ask questions of the knowledgeable PTA members, each of whom oversaw a table dedicated to a committee. Parents were informed on various fundraising opportunities, CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) sports, school uniforms, and the ever-popular school benefit. Holy Cross’s biggest fundraiser, this year’s benefit takes place on November 5 in the very same gymatorium, which will be transformed into a nightclub with the theme “Havana Nights.” Many parents were eager to sign up to help on the benefit committee.

Student ambassadors were also on hand to welcome the families and give tours of the school. Each family was given a gift of a beautiful Holy Cross Church cookbook composed of recipes from church families, as well as pencils and a car decal bearing the school’s name.

Each year this event is meant to extend a warm greeting to families who have chosen Catholic education for their children. Families of children entering kindergarten, as well as families whose children are transferring from another grade school are invited. This year Holy Cross welcomed twenty-four new families.
