Ready to “mangia” for a good cause?
The alumni committee of St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish, Hamilton, will sponsor its 5th annual Pizza Tasting Showdown Oct. 17 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the parish center at 3500 South Broad St. Proceeds will go toward a monetary gift for two St. Raphael School eighth-grade students at their 2019 graduation.
The friendly competition invites neighborhood pizzerias to serve up all their best types of pizza pies, then invites attendees to sample the creations and vote for those they like the best. The two restaurants receiving the most votes will win plaques inscribed with the title “Grand Champion” or “Pizzaiolo" (Pizza Chef).
In addition to DJ Johnny D, who spins records of Italian-American music during the event, this year the showdown will feature a 30-minute live entertainment tribute by Lou Dottoli to “Ole Blue Eyes” entitled “Sinatra Like No One Else.”
Tickets are on sale now at the parish main office or at the door on the day of the event. For a limited time (until Oct. 7), ticket prices are $11 for adults, $5 for children ages six to 12, and children ages five and under are free. After Oct. 7, prices are $13 for adults, $6 for children six to 12, and free for those under age five.
