The works of Camille Saint Saens and Benjamin Britten will be highlighted in the Dec. 14 Christmas concert to be presented by the music ministry of St. Anthony of Padua, Red Bank.

The concert, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the church, will include the combined choirs of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, the Diocesan Festival Choir and the Orchestra of St. Cecilia, all under the direction of Shawn Mack.

The music will feature Saint Saens’ Christmas Oratorio and Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols. The Christmas Oratorio was composed in 1858 when Saint Saens was 23 years old. The19 th century French composer, organist, conductor and pianist, wrote all genres of music including opera, symphonies, concertos, sacred and secular choral music, solo piano and chamber music.

Britten was a British composer who wrote A Ceremony of Carols, which is largely based on carols written in the 15th and 16th centuries, during World War II while he was crossing the Atlantic Ocean in 1942, abroad a cargo ship.

Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students. St. Anthony of Padua Parish is located at 121 Bridge Ave., Red Bank. For more information, call 732-747-0813.
