The National Alliance on Mental Illness in Mercer County serves families and individuals residing in the New Jersey’s capital region who are affected by mental illness. NAMI Mercer impacts the lives of more than 5,000 people each year by providing programs of advocacy, education, support and outreach with the goal of empowering families and individuals to build better lives, free of stigma and discrimination.

Each year, volunteers contribute approximately 10,000 hours of service, valued at more than $250,000. All volunteers receive the appropriate training. Volunteer opportunities include: teaching a class, facilitating a support group, giving presentations; organizing events; assisting with administrative tasks; responding to Helpline inquiries; serving on committees such as finance, advocacy, development, programs and services and public awareness; assisting with special events; serving as an advocate for policy research, communication with legislators and participation on public hearings; and maintaining the resource library.
