Young adult ministry representatives from across the Diocese took the opportunity to dream about their roles Feb. 15 during a workshop in the Emmaus House Catholic Campus Center of Rider University.

Jerry Wutkowski, assistant coordinator of the diocesan Young Adult Ministry, led a group of about 25 young adults as they considered the direction of their future programs. Participants divided into groups to discuss their dreams for young adult ministry in their parishes, their two-month plan for programs, and what a “dream diocese” might look like.

“The Holy Spirit was really working throughout the conversation,” Wutkowski said. “Making it concrete, the Holy Spirit truly began to open eyes and hearts to making the next step of putting the process into their own hands possible.”

The results of the workshop will be made into a formal presentation to be shared with the young adult ministry at large.

“It is important that they have a say throughout the process,” Wutkowski said, “so we can learn what they are looking for, how to better serve them and how to implement it. We want them to start to take more ownership in the program.”
