Century Club plans annual gala May 5

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Donovan Catholic’s “Tradition of Excellence” has been a mainstay in Ocean County since the school opened its doors more than 54 years ago in September 1962. Although the Toms River school’s name has changed, its mission continues to center on providing the highest quality college preparatory education based on the traditions and teachings of the Catholic Church. As educational costs continue to rise, the school relies on the generosity of businesses and individuals to provide scholarships to deserving students.

To assist those grade school students from St. Joseph School, Toms River, who wish to attend Donovan Catholic, the Century Club awards scholarships based on academic achievement and financial need. Since its inception, the Century Club has raised more than $1.21 million, benefiting more than 275 students.

On May 5, the Century Club will host its annual gala starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Days Inn of Toms River. At the gala, the club’s board of governors will honor three individuals who have supported St. Joseph Parish and School and Century Club for many years. The honorees are Kevin and Peg Smith, as well as Father Joseph Farrell, who served in the parish and high school in the 1970s and 1980s. Father Farrell currently serves as pastor of Assumption Parish, New Egypt.

Tickets cost $125 per person, and commemorative journal ads may be secured by calling the high school’s Office of Advancement at 732-349-8801, ext. 2435.
