From praying for police officers to ministering to those who are incarcerated, the topics covered on the Diocese of Trenton’s social media ran the gamut over the past two weeks.

One of the highlights was the Blue Mass for law enforcement personnel, which was celebrate March 27 by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton.

Trenton Monitor staff posted several videos — including the moving homily by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., a procession of law enforcement bag pipers and percussionists— and dozens of photos from arrival at the Cathedral to a special luncheon after Mass.

Several faithful of the Diocese and beyond commented on the array of posts about the Mass.

Many, such as Rosemary Kubiak, offered prayers for those gathered there that day.  “May God bless our law enforcement as they endeavor to perform in difficult circumstances,” she wrote.

Others, including Loretta Keown, reminisced about past Blue Masses. Keown wrote about the bagpipe-and-drum procession: “I remember this … Beautiful service!”

You can watch the videos and browse a Blue Mass photo album on the Monitor’s Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/TrentonMonitor.

Another top performing post since last issue was one that had to do with another side of law enforcement: the inmates.

A recent episode of The Catholic Corner with Msgr. Walter Nolan features interviews with inmates at Jones Farm, a minimum-security prison in Ewing.

The inmates talk about how returning to faith has helped them while incarcerated and given them hope for their futures. Father Martin F. McGeough, C.M., diocesan coordinator of jail and prison ministry, is also featured in the episode.

The episode, titled “I was in Prison and You Visited Me,” was liked, commented on or shared by dozens. Here are some of the comments about Father McGeough’s work:

Jeff Keller:  Finding Christ behind the wall.

Sherrie Sporek: You are awesome, Fr. Marty! Good soul!

Mary Bristol Huggins: Thanks for sharing.
