As Bishop of the Diocese of Trenton, I am delighted to congratulate the following Catholic schools in the Diocese who have been awarded the coveted “Blue Ribbon” by the United States Department of Education:
St. Catharine, Spring Lake: Mr. Robert Dougherty, principal
St. Dominic, Brick: Mrs. Carol Bathmann, principal
St. James, Red Bank: Mrs. JoAnn Giordano, principal
St. Jerome, West Long Branch: Sister Angelina Pelliccia, principal
St. Leo the Great, Lincroft: Mr. Neil Begley, principal
This is an extraordinary accomplishment for the Diocese – not one but five of our Catholic schools have been recognized for excellence “based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.”
Along with our Superintendent Mrs. JoAnn Tier, our Vicar for Catholic Education Rev. Gabriel Zeis, TOR, and their colleagues in the Office of Catholic Education, I extend heartiest congratulations to the administrations, pastors and parish priests, faculties, and staffs of our newest “Blue Ribbon Schools.” You are amazing! And to our parents who sacrifice so much to entrust their children to our Catholic schools and to our incredible Catholic school students, thank you for your hard work and dedication. You are the best! “Catholic schools have it all!”
Respectfully yours in the Lord,
Most Reverend David M. O’Connell, C.M., J.C.D.
Bishop of Trenton
