Beth Meagher, one of 12 children of William and Eileen Meagher, grew up in Lawrence Township,  where she attended St. Ann School and Notre Dame High School, both Lawrenceville.  She continued her Catholic education at Marywood University in Scranton, Pa., where she received a bachelor of music education degree.  She also earned a master’s degree in music performance from The College of New Jersey, Ewing.

Meagher taught music at St. Clare School in Scranton before returning to New Jersey to begin her 30-plus years teaching in the Diocese of Trenton.  Most of those years were spent at Incarnation (later Incarnation-St. James) School, from 1985 to 2015, when the school closed.  Guided and supported by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Philadelphia, she taught as a classroom teacher in grades second through eight.  In her final three years there, she taught music to grades Pre-K to eight.  She also acted as coordinator of liturgies, respect life activities, and religious studies.  For five years, she served on the school’s SOS committee, which developed strategies and organized activities to sustain the school.  She also taught in the parish’s religious education program.

She now teaches middle school at her alma mater, St. Ann School.

Meagher has directed a school children’s choir since 1984.  The children sing for school Masses and special events, such as the Christmas Show and a spring concert.  Over the years, the choirs have sung for the greater community, including participating in Respect Life Masses for the Diocese of Trenton, conducting Christmas concerts for Morris Hall residents, and leading the National Anthem at Trenton Thunder baseball games.

Since fourth grade, Meagher has sung in school and church choirs.  She was especially blessed while still a student to sing in the parish and Trenton Diocesan choirs with her mother, Eileen, who, along with her husband, Bill, passed on to Beth and her siblings the joy of singing and their deep love for the Catholic faith.

A parishioner of St. Paul, Princeton, Meagher is a longtime cantor and member of the adult choir, the contemporary ensemble, and the handbell choir.  She has taught in the parish’s summer academy program and, since 1999, has provided music for the summer Bible Camp.

Meagher is a founding member of the Capital Singers of Trenton,  a choral group that “strives to enrich the cultural life of New Jersey and the surrounding region, and serve as goodwill ambassadors for the City of Trenton.”  She also sings with the Caritas Chamber Chorale, whose sole purpose is to provide support for the Adorno Fathers’ St. Francis Caracciolo Mission in the DRC, Africa.

Honored to be recognized by the Mount Carmel Guild, Meagher noted how deeply grateful she is for the blessings of faith, family, and music.
