Annual pizza showdown in Hamilton set for Oct. 4

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Pizza aficionados and fans are encouraged to bring their appetites Oct. 4 to the fourth annual Pizza Tasting Showdown at St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish, Hamilton.

The popular event, which takes place from 5:30 – 8 p.m. in the parish center at 3500 Broad Street, helps to raise funds for two eighth-grade students to receive a monetary student award upon their 2018 graduation.

The St. Raphael-Holy Angels Alumni Committee invites neighborhood pizzerias to a friendly competition for the chance at the best-tasting pizza prize. Attendees taste all the different types of pizzas provided by the competitors, and after enjoying them all, vote for the pizza they liked the best.

The two restaurants with the highest votes win a plaque and are named the “Grand Champion” and the “Pizzaiolo (Pizza Chef)”.

Tickets go on sale Sept. 6 – $12.50 for adults, $6 for children six to 12, children five and under attend free.  A discount of 20 percent applies until Sept. 30.  Tickets can be purchased in advance or reserved by calling 609-223-0296.
