Annual Blue Mass set for April 17

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The rumbling and powerful sounds of the pipe and drum corps, the solemn sense of honor of the color guard and the community of believers gathered together in prayer.

This is the scene that awaits those attending the Diocese’s 19th annual Blue Mass April 17, which recognizes law enforcement personnel in Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean and Burlington Counties. Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., will celebrate the Mass, set for 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton.

The event is held to offer thanks to God for the dedication and sacrifice made by women and men in law enforcement as well as their families and communities. The Celebration of Law Enforcement, or Blue Mass as it has come to be known, is sponsored by the Diocese each year and is coordinated by a committee of law enforcement representatives, among others.

Luncheon will follow in the lower hall of the Cathedral. Luncheon tickets are $20 per person and free to immediate family members. To order tickets, mail checks made payable to: Diocese of Trenton – Blue Mass, Attn:  Jennifer Britton, 701 Lawrenceville Road, P.O. Box 5147, Trenton, N.J. 08638-0147. The Cathedral is located at 151 N. Warren Street, Trenton.
