Advent 2016: Christmas Carol Festivals are a prayerful tool to evangelize during Advent

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Faithful from around the Diocese of Trenton, as well as their family members and friends, are invited to participate once again in the award-winning Christmas Carol Festival, a program that can help prepare people of all ages for the coming of Christmas.

This year, the festivals are being held in seven parishes around the four-county Diocese and are 45- to 90-minute gatherings that include Scripture, music, witness and fellowship. The festivals can serve as a bridge for welcoming newly engaged Catholics into the Church, or engaging those who have lapsed from the Church to consider returning to their faith community. The festival concludes with a solemn procession of a statue of the Infant Jesus to the manger and is followed by light refreshments and invitations to future parish events.

Christmas Carol Festivals originated in the Diocese of Trenton in 2007 and have been made available in the parishes ever since. In 2010, the program’s creators, John and Therese Boucher, were awarded the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership ‘s “New Wineskins” award.
