Concluding RCIA training session offered Jan. 25
December 9, 2019 at 9:20 p.m.

The final installment of Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults Training will take place Jan. 25 in St. Thomas More Parish, 186 Gordons Corner Road, Manalapan.
Sponsored by the Diocesan Department of Catechesis, the “RCIA Training: Purification and Enlightenment” will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in English and conclude with a prayer service and lunch. The Spanish program will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a prayer service and lunch, followed by presentations until 3 p.m. The workshop is open to those who want to know more about RCIA, especially team members.
The presenter will be Oscar Cruz, director of the catechumenate in the Office of Catechesis, Archdiocese of New York. He holds a master of arts degree from St. Joseph Seminary, Yonkers, N.Y.
The RCIA process consists of four periods, for which the Diocese has offered training on the first three over the past year and a half. This fourth training will conclude the series. Cruz will speak about how this fourth period of spiritual recollection is placed in the context of the parish’s Lenten retreat, and is enlightened by the celebration of certain rites.
Steve Bulvanoski, diocesan RCIA coordinator, said he sees the Jan. 25 RCIA training day as being "larger than only for people involved in RCIA.
"It is a great Lenten opportunity that everyone is welcome to," he said, noting that the training will be helpful for all catechists in their ministry of preparing persons for the celebration of Easter.
