'Fearless' youth retreat returning to Middletown

St. Catherine Laboure Parish, Middletown, will once again host the Christ-centered “Fearless” Retreat Weekend May 31-June 2 for all teens in grades eight through 12.

The design of the retreat is “to bring teens closer to Christ and spend a weekend free from distractions of their everyday hectic schedules,” said Theresa Gibilisco, parish youth ministry leader.

Bishop O'Connell visits Middletown parish youth for honest talk about life, vocations
Bishop David M. O’Connell visited youth of St. Mary Parish May 11, encouraging open dialogue, enjoying camaraderie over dinner and sharing his thoughts on vocations.

“The young people were amazing and asked all kinds of questions, ranging from what a bishop does to how young people can grow in their Christian lives,” Bishop O’Connell said. “I felt so encouraged by their joy and hope.”

Musician Matt Maher discusses upcoming youth rally, evangelization of music
As Catholic youth of New Jersey anticipate the annual NJ Catholic Youth Rally May 19 in Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, The Monitor’s contributing editor, EmmaLee Italia, spoke with Christian/Catholic recording artist Matt Maher, who will close the rally this year with a 7 p.m. concert.
