Diocese concludes Year of Youth with Mass, extends thanks to volunteers
As the Diocese concluded its Year of Youth observance with a June 21 Mass of Thanksgiving in St. Aloysius Church, Jackson, special appreciation was extended to those who volunteered their time and talents for helping to make “this year a successful year.”

“You said ‘yes,’ and your ‘yes’ has impacted the lives of hundreds upon hundreds of our young people who were gathered at different events throughout the year,” Father Martin O’Reilly, principal celebrant of the Mass and homilist, said to the youth and adult volunteers and their families who were present for the Mass.

Bishop O'Connell reports on highlights of U.S. bishops' meeting in Baltimore
The U.S. Bishops’ June meeting in Baltimore has ended with an agenda dominated by the response to the crisis involving the sexual abuse of minors by clergy. 

If I had to “read the room,” two things immediately struck me as the meetings began: first, the bishops present seemed exhausted, but committed to continue doing all that they can for victims in their dioceses; and, second, the bishops expressed great eagerness to ensure that the laity are given a prominent, even leading role in handling cases of sexual abuse of minors by clergy, including bishops.

“I’m a firm believer that together, we are much stronger,” Msgr. Michael J. Walsh says when speaking of the three linked parishes he shepherds that comprise the Catholic Community of Hopewell Valley.
