Villa Victoria Academy’s Math Team, the Vil2a Be2s, recently announced winners in the fall Catholic Math League competition.
Achieving a perfect score in the competition was Mary Zsolway. Two team members who achieved a one-less-than-perfect score were Jane Fan and Brittany Loh. Team member Rheana Reyes achieved two less than a perfect score.
The Vil2a Be2s Math Team was founded in 1991 and belongs to the Catholic Math League, a national math competition which currently serves hundreds of schools in the United States. The Catholic Math League is a division of MathFax Online Testing Solutions, Inc.
During the Vil2a Be2s’ years in the league, members have experienced many successes and currently hold the fifth place nationally in the Advanced Math Division. The Vil2a Be2s Math Team is open to students from grades 9 through 12, regardless of their current course of study as long as the team member is studying Algebra 2/Geometry or above.
All Vil2a Be2s participate in the Advanced Math contest by participating in four written competitions on Wednesdays in the months of November, December, February and March. Each Vil2a Be2 is required to devote time each week to prepare for the competitions. The coach of the math team is faculty member Ann Conway-Konzelman.
