A Mass of Christian Burial was to be celebrated June 13 for James F. O’Neill in All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Whiting. The principal celebrant of the Mass was the deceased’s son, Father James F. O’Neill, pastor of St. John Parish, Lakehurst. Mr. O’Neill died June 7 in Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Browns Mills. He was 79.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. O’Neill lived in Upper Darby, Pa., and South Toms River before moving to Whiting in 1976. He worked as an exterminator for Terminix in Philadelphia and Toms River for 18 years and most recently for Leisure Village for 18 years. In St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish he was past president and secretary of the Holy Name Society and was also a reader, head usher, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion and past secretary of the Our Lady of the Pines Council, Knights of Columbus.
Mr. O’Neill was predeceased by his wife, Mary Patricia O’Neill, in 2012, and his son, Patrick O’Neill, in 2006. In addition to Father O’Neill, he is survived by another son, Kevin, and two daughters, Theresa and Kathleen (Peter) Stec; two brothers; two sisters, and one grandson.
