A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 22 in the chapel of St. Catherine of Siena Convent, Caldwell, for Dominican Sister Anne Francis McNally, who died April 17. She was 92.
The daughter of the late Daniel Patrick and Catherine Anderson McNally, Sister Anne Francis was born in Jersey City. She entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh, N.Y., Feb. 2, 1946, made her first profession March 15, 1948, and final profession Aug. 4, 1951. She earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Villanova University, Villanova, Pa.
Sister Anne Francis’ ministered as a teacher in schools in New York, North Carolina and New Jersey. In the Trenton, Diocese, she served in St. Joseph School, Toms River, and St. Mary School, Ocean. In 1989, Sister Anne Francis retired from school ministry and volunteered in the infirmary at Mount St. Mary Convent, Newburgh, N.Y., and served in various capacities in the congregation as a volunteer in the development office.
Sister is survived by her sister as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Sister was buried in the Dominican Sisters’ Cemetery on the grounds of Mount St. Mary College, Newburgh.
