Ciarán Sheehan

From staff reports

Broadway veteran and Notre Dame High School, Lawrenceville, alumnus Ciarán Sheehan will perform musical favorites and Irish classics at the Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County’s annual gala Oct. 12 at the Stone Terrace, Hamilton.

The gala will also honor Investors Bank Foundation and Laurie Pietrini of the Lebensfeld Foundation for their contributions to interfaith and the wider community. Pietrini is a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Parish, Hamilton Square.

Sheehan, a Dublin-born tenor, began his career in a rock band while he was a student at Notre Dame High School before heading to New York to study acting. He made his Broadway debut in the original production of “Les Miserables” before being cast in “The Phantom of the Opera” – first as Raoul, then as the Phantom. He has worked with the award-winning, off-Broadway Irish Repertory Theatre Company, including a performance in author Frank McCourt’s “The Irish…and how they got that way.”

“We are blessed to have such a talented, home-grown performer, as well as two significant honorees touch the Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County,” said Kathy Lo Bue, chairwoman of the organization’s board of trustees. “This gala is an opportunity for us to share the great works that our small but mighty agency does for our seniors and people with disabilities. We pray that our success at the gala will enable us to continue to serve the community and grow this sacred mission.”

Interfaith Caregivers is an all-volunteer agency whose members care for homebound seniors and adults with disabilities in Mercer County. Funds raised from the event will to go support its services, such as recruiting, training and managing volunteer caregivers who help others with everyday tasks including transportation to medical appointments, assisting with grocery shopping and errands, and providing respite care.

Tickets, which include dinner and entertainment, are $65 per person. For more information, visit http://www.icgmc.org/shining-lights-gala-2017/ or call 609-393-9922.
