Franciscan Sister Anthony Eileen Reidy, the oldest member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, died Jan. 1 in Assisi House, Aston, Pa. She was 102.

A professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 77 years, Sister Anthony was born in County Cork, Ireland. She entered the congregation in 1939 and professed her first vows in 1945. She ministered primarily in healthcare and pastoral care.

Sister Anthony Eileen served for 35 years in the Diocese of Trenton in St. Francis Hospital/Medical Center, Trenton, mostly in pastoral services. In the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Sister Anthony served at St. Agnes Hospital in Philadelphia for 15 years. In 2010 she moved to Assisi House, the congregation’s retirement residence in Aston, where she served in prayer and hospitality ministry until her death. Additional ministry included serving for 11 years in her native Ireland at St. Patrick Hospital in County Cork. She also served for three years at St. Mary’s Home in New Bedford, Mass.

All funeral services were to be held in Assisi House on Jan. 6. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Aston.

Sister Anthony Eileen is survived by sister, nieces and nephews, and by her Franciscan family.
