A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 13 in St. Aloysius Church, Jackson, for John R. Bambrick, who died April 8. He was 85. Mr. Bambrick was the father of Father John R. Bambrick, pastor of St. Aloysius Parish.

Mr. Bambrick was a 1955 graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School, Red Bank, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the 1954 Undefeated State Football Champions. After high school he played Semi-Pro Football with the Keyport Dukes and was scouted for professional baseball.

He served for nine years in the U.S. Army National Guard as well as for many years on the Keyport First Aid Squad where he met his wife and was made an Honorary Life Member.

Mr. Bambrick was employed by JCP&L/First Energy for 42 years and was a member of I.B.E.W. Local #1303, serving as a shop steward and executive board treasurer. He was a third and fourth degree life member o the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Assembly, Keyport. He coached C.Y.O. baseball, basketball and softball.

Mr. Bambrick as a former parishioner of St. Joseph Parish, Keyport, where his family were founding members. For the past 14 y ears, he was a member of St. Aloysius Parish.

In addition to Father Bambrick, Mr. Bambrick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Hyer Bambrick; a daughter Susan Bambrick; two grandchildren; a sister; sisters-in-law; brother-in-law; a niece, nephew, and many cousins.

Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses to be offered through St. Mary Seminary, Kampala, Uganda, or memorial donations to St. Mary Seminary. Mass cards or donation cards can be obtained at the St. Aloysius Parish office, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson. Checks should be made payable to St. Aloysius Church.
