Franciscan Sister Agnes Marie O’Brien, a former president and CEO of St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton, died Jan. 6 in Assisi House, Aston, Pa. She was 94.

Because of coronavirus restrictions, private funeral services will be held Jan. 13 and a memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.

A professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 66 years. Sister Agnes Marie was born in Staten Island, N.Y. She entered the congregation in 1955 and professed her first vows in 1957. From Loyola University, she earned a bachelor of science degree in administration in 1969 and a master of business administrative management in 1973.

Serving in the fields of healthcare, pastoral ministry and congregational ministry, Sister Agnes Marie’s work included spending 24 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia; 19 years in the Archdiocese of Baltimore; 15 years in the Diocese of Allentown, Pa., and the seven she spent in the Diocese of Trenton as president and CEO of St. Francis Medical Center from 1977 to 1984.

Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Aston, Pa.

Sister Agnes Marie is survived by her brother and sister-in-law; nieces and nephews, and her Franciscan family. Memorial donations can be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S. Convent Road, Aston, PA 19014.
