A new video for the 2020 Diocesan Youth Conference highlights local teens talking about being inspired by Christ.
A new video inviting teens in grades eight through 12 to attend this year’s Diocesan Youth Conference highlights their call to live in God’s light in a world that can sometimes seem uninspiring.

Jumping off the DYC 2020’s theme, “Inspired,” the video highlights teens from the parish youth ministries in St. Joseph, Trenton, and St. Mary of the Lakes, Medford, acknowledging that the world in which they live often appears “dark, stressful, overwhelming [and] sinful.”

“The first half of the video is black and white … and we wanted to [visually] represent what our teenagers can sometimes experience,” said Angelica Gomez, ministry assistant in the diocesan Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries. The second half, which transitions to color, encourages teens to attend the DYC, where they will experience the love of God and learn how to be inspired by him.

Produced by the diocesan Department of Multimedia Production in cooperation with the diocesan Youth and Young Adult Ministries staff, the video can be viewed at https://youtu.be/6dRX1Jw3KjM. This year’s DYC is set for Feb. 8 in Donovan Catholic High School, Toms River.

Gomez shared that she was pleased to see young people she knows share their honest perspectives in the video. “I know that they’re not just saying [these] things because it’s scripted. They’re living this.”
