More than six months in the planning and execution, the Diocesan Phase of the worldwide Synod is now complete. The Diocese, like its counterparts around the world, invited people to give their thoughts and listen to one another regarding their relationship to the Church and their faith.  Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., has released the Final Report, which includes his reflection on this process and outcomes.  We’ve published the entire report for you and offer it as our number 1 “don’t miss” recommendation in the new issue of The Monitor Magazine now available for your viewing.

These early days of summer have been filled with news-making events, and your diocesan magazine brings you reporting and analysis that will help you keep up.

  • A message from Bishop O’Connell on the upcoming World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly and his announcement of a new special Collection for the Retired, Elderly and Infirm Priests of the Diocese.
  • A Pictorial Feature on the launch of the National Eucharistic Revival commemorated across the Diocese the weekend of June 19.
  • A SPECIAL REPORT on the Church’s response to the overturning of Roe vs. Wade by the Supreme Court and an op-ed that explores the goal of “Making Abortion Unthinkable.”

You’ll also find great stories and features on FAMILY LIFE; YOUNG CATHOLICS; IN THE PARISHES; SPIRITUAL LIFE; VOCATIONS, and Diocesan Updates.
