VILLAVICENCIO, Colombia -- Here is the Catholic News Service translation of Pope Francis' remarks in Spanish at the end of Mass Sept. 8 in Villavicencio:

At this moment, I want to show my spiritual closeness to all those who are suffering the consequences of the earthquake that struck Mexico yesterday, leading to many deaths and great material damage. My prayer is for those who have lost their lives and for their families.

Also, I am following closely the advance of Hurricane Irma, which is striking the Caribbean, leaving behind it many victims and immense material damage, causing thousands of homeless. I am following this with my heart, praying for them. And I ask you to join me in this intention.
