Several key “good news” stories enjoy center stage in the new issue of The Monitor Magazine.

We delayed publication by a week or so in order to bring you the beautiful story of the June 5 Ordination of our newest priest – Father Rjoy Ballacillo -- who now makes up one half of the Diocese’s only set of brother priests. Our coverage includes many of the emotional moments as Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., conferred the Sacrament of Holy Orders upon Father Ballacillo.

This issue also includes a photo collection from the Bishop’s Ordination of eight new deacons, which took place May 15.  Experience this momentous day with these men, their families and their parishes.

The other big story featured this month is the full return to church, which began the weekend of June 5 and 6 with the lifting of the dispensation from the Mass obligation and many of the pandemic-related restrictions, such as attendance limits and social distancing. We’ve included the full listing of revised protocols and we check in with a number of parishes to see how they’re approaching this long-awaited time for the Church.  Also be sure to read Bishop O’Connell’s official “Welcome Back.”

And that just scratches the surface.  Check out some of the many highlights in the June issue:

  • Celebrating 50 years of healing and support made possible by St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center in Lawrenceville.
  • A Saint for all People – Who was St. Rita of Cascia, and why does her story resonate today?
  • At 16 years old, Jack Shallow has a mind for business and a heart for charity.
  • With the lifting of many restrictions, the Summer of 2021 signals the return of fun and learning through Vacation Bible Schools and summer camps.
  • In advance of Father’s Day, columnist Mary Morrell pulls at our heartstrings with her poignant reflection on what makes a good father.

Please remember that The Monitor will publish a BONUS ISSUE of the magazine with its Salute to the Class of 2021, due out later this month.
