Life can be full of ups and downs, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing – especially if you’re spending a day at Six Flags Great Adventure with your friends in faith from around the state!

On May 21, young faithful and their families are invited to the 22nd annual New Jersey Catholic Youth Rally – a day where faithful from the state’s dioceses come together for prayer, food and fellowship, and of course, plenty of rollercoasters at the amusement park in Jackson.

“It’s a great family day,” said Cristina Imparato, ministry assistant in the Department of Evangelization and Family Life, which is sponsoring the event for the Diocese of Trenton. “It’s all about forming community and seeing that your church is bigger than your parish or even your diocese.”

The event for youth ministers, teens and families is being coordinated through the Dioceses of Trenton, Camden, Metuchen and Paterson as well as the Archdiocese of Newark. Last year, more than 2,500 teens and chaperones took part, and Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., celebrated Mass.

The day begins at 9:30 a.m. with an opening ceremony being coordinated by the Diocese of Metuchen. Rides and an all-you-can-eat buffet lunch continue through the day. The doors to the park’s Plymouth Rock Arena will open at 5 p.m. for Mass, which is being coordinated by the Archdiocese of Newark. Mass begins at 6 p.m.

Cost is $50 – $20 for season pass holders – and includes park admission to all rides and shows, lunch, parking and a ticket to Holiday in the Park, Six Flags’ winter wonderland held later in the year. The park opens at 9 a.m.

Six Flags Great Adventure is located at 1 Six Flags Blvd., Jackson.
