With the one-year mark of the first known COVID-19 cases in the United States now upon us, Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., has issued a new pastoral letter on the “Presence of God.” The letter is published in its entirety in the March issue of The Monitor Magazine.

Bishop O’Connell counsels that even as we see the promise of a return to normalcy, there are many who are struggling with grief, loneliness, depression, addiction and a sense of alienation from God. For them, and for all of us, the Bishop reflects on the presence of a loving God and invites us to develop the practice of the presence of God through prayer and through recognizing the many ways that we connect with God in our everyday living.

The COVER STORY of the latest issue is a tribute to St. Joseph as the Church observes The Year of St. Joseph and is about to celebrate the saint’s feast day. Don’t miss Bishop O’Connell’s message and a photo collection of St. Joseph images from around the Diocese

We encourage you to flip through the issue to find our annual Catholic College Showcase; a backgrounder on the moral choices in COVID vaccines; a photo collection of the sites visited by Pope Francis in Iraq; and a breakdown of Holy Week in the midst of necessary public health precautions.

There’s lots more to look for in our regular features and sections on Church, World & Nation, Viewpoints, Spiritual Life, Parishes, Education and Sports, as well as our Spanish-language section, El Anzuelo
