In the months since Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish’s newly built multi-purpose parish center was opened, endless efforts have been made to equip the building with all it needs for the use of the celebration of Masses and other Sacraments as well as parish activities.

The newest addition that was recently and warmly welcomed into the building has been a Yamaha Digital Baby Grand Clavinova Piano, something which Father Joe Noche, pastor of the Hainesport parish, said, “is just the right piano for our parish center.  It’s small, but it plays both a piano and organ and comes with multiple options.”

Father Noche said the decision to purchase a baby grand piano was made earlier this year but, it also came with a costly price tag. “We tried to look for a second-hand grand piano, but most of them needed major repairs,” he said. It came as a big surprise, he said, when Our Lady Queen of Peace was named one of the recipients of a parish grant of $2,000 from Oregon Catholic Press, a Portland, Ore. based Catholic publisher of liturgical music. This grant, plus a generous donation from a parishioner, completed the purchase of a brand-new baby grand piano.

“We’re a singing parish,” he said, praising his parishioners and the music ministry that includes the choir cantors, pianist, along with its music director, Diane Dannenfelser. While parishioners are used to hearing the organ and piano during Masses in the church that’s across the street, they are happy to have this new baby grand piano “as it is just the perfect instrument for our newly built center that can accompany and encourage the parishioners to sing and pray during Mass,” he said.

“I’m so grateful to OCP for choosing us among the many applicants for this year’s OCP Parish Grant. I hope other parishes in our Diocese will try to avail themselves and apply for this great opportunity. I am also grateful to the family who completed the purchase of this piano. This is truly a blessing for our parish. Many will benefit from their generosity for the years to come,” said Father Noche
