The cast of "The Drowsy Chaperone."

The thespians of Red Bank Catholic High School earned accolades for their musical production of “The Drowsy Chaperone” May 22 during the 14th annual Basie Awards at Count Basie Theater, Red Bank. Shawn Mack, RBC performing arts teacher and director of the diocesan Festival Choir, won the Amy Fredericks Award for Outstanding Musical Direction, and Maggie Skalecki was named Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Janet Van de Graaff.

The Basie Awards honor and recognize high school-level actors, actresses and productions in the Monmouth County area. This year, a record 22 dramas and 29 musical performances were evaluated by the awards’ nomination committee, which produced nominations for students, productions and schools in various acting and production categories.
