Holy Cross School, Rumson, recently achieved Gold Level Status in the National Math Club.

Since its inception in 2013, the Holy Cross School MathCounts Club won the silver award in 2013-14 and four gold awards in subsequent years, based on project submissions by student groups in grades six through eight. This year, the club accepted the Math Gameboards challenge, in which student groups created unique math board games complete with instructions and video presentations.

Math teacher Marcie Forsyth explained that fellow math teacher Kathy Chadwick’s and her enthusiasm for the program: “We are so proud of the students doing this club, because they are willing to take time out of their busy schedules to learn more about math,” Forsyth said. “We work to make the club fun while implementing important skills, such as learning to work as a group and presenting their projects to an audience.”
