The Knights of Columbus Bishop Griffin Fourth Degree Assembly and the Bishop Ahr Fourth Degree Assembly proudly raised the American flag on Flag Day June 14 at the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial in Mercer County Park, West Windsor. Representing the State Council were State Deputy Robert E. Hatler and State Secretary Vincent P Tavormina. Emcee for the event was FDD Jeffrey D. Bourne and Msgr. James Innocenzi gave the Invocation and Benediction. The Stars and Stripes flag design was adopted by the Continental Congress as the official American flag on June 14, 1777, in the midst of the Revolutionary War. At that time the flag had 13 white stars on a blue field and 13 alternating red and white stripes representing the 13 original colonies. Flag Day was first celebrated in 1877 and continues to this day. On Flag Day the colors are to be flown at all government buildings. Courtesy photo
